| For
many small voluntary sector organisations such as ourselves
running on tight budgets, small staff teams and spiraling workloads
setting aside precious time to take stock of current position,
strengths and weaknesses along with planning for the future
is difficult in the extreme! |
| |
| However,
for any organisation to flourish and move forward a way must
be found to assess and benchmark its progress and development.
For SCIPS Investors
In People has provided just such an opportunity. It has given
us a focal point to assess both our internal management systems
along with our commitment to staff development and individual
personal growth. |
| |
| Such
commitment should be a priority for any organisation, but is
especially valuable in the voluntary sector where amongst small
organisations retention of key workers is of paramount importance. |
| |
| We
first acquired Investors In People status back in September
2000 when the award was simply a case of 'yes you have reached
the standard' or 'no you haven't.' We were rightly very proud
of this award at the time as considerable effort went into achieving
it. |
| |
| When
the time came to renew our Investors status in August 2003 we
took the opportunity to have the Investors team produce for
us an Organisational Profile Review. This profiling
process had not been an option back in 2000 and has proved hugely
beneficial to us, providing an opportunity to truly benchmark
our progress against other like organisations. |
| |
| Having
realized the potential benefit of this new Organisational Profile
Reviewing we have decided to include our full 2003 Investors
In People report here, to allow other voluntary sector organisations
to assess the potential benefit Investors In People status may
bring to them and how this process would assist them in developing
both their organisational ethos and business practices. |
