Over the past 3 years we have been able to provide a wide range of support to the community and voluntary sector within Sandwell. This support has focussed around developing IT awareness and knowledge within the sector and has been based around cascading out knowledge we had acquired when ‘up skilling’ to meet our own needs and requirements. The project has left a long lasting legacy within the borough including:-
- Providing groups with a variety of self-promotional tools and avenues for promotion.
- Up skilling local sector activists IT related skills and awareness – including linking through to formalised training opportunities.
- Helping groups in identifying funding.
- Equipment loans to groups (sorry – only now available to groups joining us in membership).
- Enabled SCIPS to offer free membership to groups engaging with us through the project – including access to services & equipment through our Resource Centre in Oldbury (sorry- again now only available to groups joining us in membership).
- Circulation of Open Source software to local groups and signposting to software discounting arrangements for the voluntary and community sectors.
