JOIN TWINNING GROUP WITH LE BLANC MESNIL

Sandwell’s twinning association is encouraging more people to join and find out about the borough’s French friends as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Sandwell has been twinned with Le Blanc Mesnil, a town 10km northeast of Paris since 1985.

Over the past 30 years, regular exchange visits have been organised where host families accommodate each other in their homes.

Pat Perry, chair of Sandwell Twinning Association said: “We are celebrating our 30th anniversary and encouraging new people to join the association. Exchange visits usually last for five days, two of which are spent with host families.

“During the visit, various excursions and activities are organised, and there is also free time to spend with the host families. Language need not be a problem as some members speak French, but others don’t. It is a fantastic opportunity to make friends with both fellow Sandwell residents and our French counterparts.”

Visits take place in alternate years. In 2016 friends from Le Blanc Mesnil will visit Sandwell and in 2017 Sandwell twinners will visit Le Blanc Mesnil.

Membership is open to anyone in the local area for more details email blancmesnil2012@live.co.uk or call Claire Hallam on 0121 429 4207.
