UK Government Announces New £1 Million Fund – Deadline: TBC
Funding to increase access to automated external defibrillators
in underrepresented communities. The Department of Health and Social Care is launching a £1 million fund to increase the number of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in underrepresented communities in England.
The Automated External Defibrillator Fund will be managed by an independent partner, who will oversee grant applications from organisations seeking funding to purchase and install AED’s.
These organisations will be required to match the funding they receive, potentially doubling the number of new AED’s created through the fund.
The fund’s independent partner will work with the Department of Health and Social Care to ensure that the AED’s are placed in areas with high foot traffic, vulnerable populations, rural areas or locations where specific activities take place. Examples of such locations include town halls, community centres, local shops, post offices, and parks.
The independent partner managing the fund will be announced in due course, and will work with the Department of Health and Social Care to ensure that new defibrillators in the community are accessible on a 24/7 basis and are equally accessible across England in all social groups.
