National Lottery Community Fund Announces New Strategy and Funding (UK)

The National Lottery Community Fund, the UK’s largest community funder, has unveiled its new strategy and funding moves.

The strategic shift focuses on boosting support for grassroots community groups with a particular emphasis on four key mission that aim to make a significant impact:

1. “Turbo charging” support for grassroots: The amount and duration of funding available through the flagship small grants programme, National Lottery Awards for All, will be doubled. The funding amount will increase from £10,000 to £20,000 and the duration will extend from 1 year to 2 years, effective from Autumn this year,

2. £15 million will be allocated to a new programme, opening around August, to foster community connections and address major social issues affecting UK communities today,

3. A £9 million boost will be provided for climate action, aligning with one of the fund’s four key missions. This brings the total investment in climate action to £35 million this year,

4. The new strategy, titled “It starts with community” serves as the foundation for the fund’s objective of distributing at least £4 billion of National Lottery funding by 2030. The National Lottery Community Fund pledges to double the funding available to grassroots projects, marking the most significant change in National Lottery funding in a generation. The commitment to turbocharging support for grassroots initiatives reflects a long-term investment of over £1 billion in community funding over the next 7 years.
