£200 Million Fund to Support the Holiday Activities and Food Programme 2023 (England) – Deadline: TBC

The UK Government has announced £200 million in funding during 2023 to support the

Holiday Activities and Food Programme, which provides free meals and activities to children in disadvantaged areas during the school holiday.

The programme started as a pilot in 2018 and has supported around 600,000 children over the summer of 2022 at over 8,000 clubs, events, or organised activities in England.

Funding for the programme in 2023 will allow every local authority in England to continue supporting families in need. The programme is targeted at school aged children from reception to year 11 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals and is available during the summer, Easter and Christmas breaks.

The government is also extending the Household Support Fund, which provides small payments for food, clothing, and utilities to vulnerable households, until March 2024 with an additional £1 billion in funding.
