Theatres Trust (The) Capital Grants Theatre Improvements (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) – Deadline: 6th September 2024

Theatre operators can apply for capital grants of up to

£20,000 to improve the environmental sustainability of their theatres. The funding can be used towards improving buildings or purchasing equipment. The Theatre Improvement Scheme can support various projects that consider how theatre buildings can reduce their environmental impact.

This might range from buildings management systems to more efficient water heaters, or a green roof to new windows. To be eligible to apply for the scheme, applicants must demonstrate that they:

• Own or manage theatres with titles or signed leases of more than 5 years on buildings in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland,

• Run a year-round programme of live performance, of no less than 30 performances a year,

• Have a bone fide UK charitable or not-for-profit legal structure and be able to provide certified or audited accounts for at least two years.

• Operate theatres that achieve excellence through their production and programming or architectural significance. The funding is being made available through the Theatres Trust in partnership with the Wolfson Foundation. The Trust are hosting a webinar on 20th May 2024 to provide guidance on applications - find out more and book your place.
