Sandwell concerts help celebrate 40 years of the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival

Sandwell Council is delighted to once again
be supporting the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival. This 40th festival will see local, national and international musicians showcase their talent across Sandwell’s six towns, including FREE events in our libraries, museums and parks. The council values the importance of equality, diversity and inclusivity and so is rightly proud of Sandwell’s rich and diverse culture and heritage. With artists from all over the UK as well as musicians from as far afield as Norway, the USA and Singapore, this year’s festival reflects that.
This year, the festival coincides with Sandwell’s 50th anniversary and forms part of our wider Sandwell Arts Festival which will take place from 13 July to 4 August. Leader of Sandwell Council, Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, said: “Festivals and events such as this really show that Sandwell is a Bostin Place that is home to Bostin People, which is why we are proud to welcome residents and visitors from further afield.” The Jazz & Blues Festival runs from 19 – 28 July and full details can be found on the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival website with more information on Sandwell concerts on Visit Sandwell.
In addition to these events over the summer the council runs an exciting, year-long calendar of council events with something for everyone. Go to our Visit Sandwell website to find out more about events. Sandwell Council would like to thank the West Midlands Combined Authority for supporting some of its Sandwell 50 and Jazz & Blues Festival events.
The festival was officially opened in Sandwell by the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Syeda Khatun MBE, at a special concert performed by Calypso Moon at West Bromwich Central Library. Free Jazz & Blues Festival concerts in
