A statement from Chief Superintendent Kim Madill, Chair of the Safer Sandwell Partnership

With the current situation in Israel and Gaza, the Safer Sandwell Partnership continues to work together to listen, understand and

keep people safe. This is a worrying time for many, especially those with friends or family in the region. We’re continually

assessing the impact these global events have on people locally. Just like you, the partnership’s hope is for a lasting peace where people of different cultures, faiths and beliefs can live together in harmony – just as we do here in Sandwell.

We are proud to be a place where people live by our shared British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance. Each and every one of us – residents, businesses organisations and all our partners in the Safer Sandwell Partnership – must work to uphold these beliefs every day and in every way. Hate has no place in Sandwell and the police will investigate all reported crimes where people are targeted just because of who they are. We’ve not seen an increase in reports of hate crime in Sandwell but we encourage people to report any incidents.
